Community Involvement of Home-Mart Owner, Doug Gorman:
" border="0" align="left">An additional aspect of Home-Mart's management philosophy is to provide positive community awareness for the company and the manufactured housing industry through volunteer and financial support to worthy causes in the community. Home-Mart's owner serves in several of these capacities.
Junior Achievement.
Accepted requested to return for second year to serve as a classroom instructor for the Junior Achievement Program. Junior Achievement is dedicated to teaching elementary and high school students the benefits of America's Free Enterprise economic system.
City of Tulsa Continuum of Care Committee.
Invited by the Mayor's office to represent the business community on the committee established by the mayor to oversee the disbursement process to area non-profit organizations seeking federal grant money. The City of Tulsa received a record amount of funds for this year in grants from the federal government.
Board of Directors - Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless.
Nonprofit facility caring for Tulsa's homeless population. Produced a series of public service television spots promoting the Day Center. Serve on fund raising and public relations committees.
Board of Directors - Tulsa Metropolitan Ministries (Also serves as chairman of the Building Committee.) Nonprofit ecumenical organization serving the religious community of greater Tulsa. Additional information on TMM has been enclosed.
Tulsa Chamber of Commerce Small Business Steering Committee.
The division of Tulsa's Chamber of Commerce that focuses on the needs of the small business community.
Boy Scouts of America, Troop 154/76 - Troop Committee - Served as chairman of troop committee. Currently serving as committee member and merit badger counselor.
Church Involvement - Served as an adult leader in the youth organization and on the Public Affairs Committee that serves all the church units in the Northeast Oklahoma area.
Community Speaking Requests:
Has served as guest speaker on behalf of the industry at numerous community functions. In the past these included The Sand Springs Planning Commission and the Sand Springs Chamber of Commerce. After the appearances in Sand Springs, the city of Sand Springs formally acknowledged the need to make provisions to permit HUD code housing within their city limits.
Invited guest speaker at Fast Track classes conducted for local business owners at nearby college campus, and for a group named Entrepreneurs of Tulsa.
